Taste Test

O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. (Ps. 34:8 KJV)

Sometimes, as I’m preparing dinner for my family, my children will come in the kitchen and ask, “Mom, What are you cooking?” I respond with the menu and immediately their facial expression changes to one of disgust. They’ll even say, “Ewww, I don’t like that.” I’ll look at them and say, “How do you know if you’ve never tried it?” I’ll proceed to take out a spoonful or break off a bitesize piece and give it to them. I then say, “Taste it.” They reluctantly taste it and sometimes (not all the time) their eyes will light up and they say, “Oh my God, this is so good!”, “Can I have some more?”

If they would have never tried it, they would have never known what they were missing. They would have never experienced the goodness. The same goes for experiencing the goodness of Jesus. If you don’t try him, you’ll never know what you’re missing. You’ll never know what he will do for you and how he will bless you. Your eyes will never light up in amazement of something that is so good.

I dare you to take the “Taste Test” and try Jesus for yourself.

Be blessed always,

Don’t Lean

My morning prayer was not for any material thing. But rather that God’s will be done. It’s so amazing how quickly He moves when we give ourselves to him. No sooner than I had said just a few words I heard these, “Don’t Lean.” To many these few words may leave them asking questions. But for me, these words took me to chapter 3 in the Book of Proverbs .

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths. (Prov. 3:5-6 KJV)

In that moment, Don’t Lean meant don’t keep trying things my way. Don’t keep thinking of a million ways to do this or that – only to do nothing. Don’t keep worrying or stressing about things I can’t change. But instead, acknowledge God as the head of my life; allow him to have complete control, grant him full access, and let him lead the way. He will show me exactly what I need to do,when I need to do it.  And He will do the same for you. Be blessed always!

Pray My Strength

God’s Will be Done

Father, If thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. (Luke 22:42 KJV)

I often think of Jesus at this moment as he’s praying in the garden. I imagine the amount of emotion that is sweeping over him as he meditates on his destiny and those who follow him. And although he knows the pain and suffering that he is about to endure, he remains humble to the will of God. He basically says that as much as he would like for this this situation to not come upon him, it’s not about him, but it’s about God’s will being done. The selflessness that he portrays is simply amazing.

To think, He did this for you. He loved you so much that he chose to endure the pain and suffering so that you wouldn’t have to. He wanted you to have an abundant life, so he died. If only we could be so selfless. If only we could humble ourselves and say, “God, your will be done in my life.”

What is God asking of you? Whatever it is, “Let it be done”, In Jesus Name!

Be Blessed

Don’t Fear, Seek God

It is so easy to fear in this day and time. Fear what is happening and fear the uncertainty of what will happen. Our lives have shifted overnight and we are at a loss. We are accustomed to our daily routines and those routines no longer exist. As I think on these things, I remember that God tells me in the book of Matthew to take no thought for tomorrow because tomorrow will take thought for things of itself. This means that I shouldn’t worry about what will happen tomorrow because what will happen, will happen; and there is nothing I can do about it. But instead, He encourages us to seek the kingdom of God, and He’ll take care of all the rest.

So in this time of uncertainty, I encourage you all not to worry or fear. But instead, seek God’s kingdom and let him handle this situation. When we take our eyes off of the things happening around us and put the focus on God, and trust Him, he will bring a sense of peace upon our lives that cannot be explained.

I pray your strength on today and the days ahead. Be blessed always!

PRESENT HELP

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (PS. 46:1 KJV)

Rising water, sinking deep. Drowning in worries; where is relief?

Suddenly remembering; Troubles won’t last.

Dark clouds, raging winds. I look up to heaven with strength.

Knowing soon it will all be over. I am never alone.

God is my present help.

My First Blog Post

Outpour

Deep within, thoughts, emotions, desires; waiting to be expressed, yearning to break free. Bellowing from the heart, crying out from the soul; “Hear me, Embrace me.” Deep, so deep, if only they could be heard. If only others would listen. And take heed to the Outpour.

Introduce Yourself

Hi, my name is Shatina Archer-Williams and I have found writing to be my most positive outlet. Often, the words I want to say are right on the tip of my tongue; daring to take the next step. However, they tend to take a detour and find their way through my fingertips.

I have spent many years jotting my personal thoughts and ideas in a notebook. I stepped out on faith in 2011 and published my first book Outpour, Encouraging Words from the Soul. Somehow, I still managed to hide my light under a bushel instead of placing it on the candlestick (Matt.5:15).

So, here I am, unable to run from the calling placed on my life. Knowing that words possess a power that can make or break a person; I choose to use my words to “make” them. I want to encourage people to be their very best. I believe that there is a greatness in people that many of them don’t even recognize. I want to help them open their eyes to see themselves as God sees them.

Be Blessed!
